Qualifies for SpEd
Individuals qualify for services when they have a significant educational need AND one or more of the following disabilities, according to federal and state criteria as set out in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA):
- Learning Disability (LD)
- Speech Impairment (SI)
- Deaf-Blind (DB)
- Visual Impairment (VI)
- Auditory Impairment (AI)
- Orthopedic Impairment (OI)
- Mental Retardation (MR)
- Emotional Disturbance (ED)
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Autism (AU)
- Multiple Disabilities (MD)
- Other Health Impairments (OH)
Who qualifies for Section 504 services?
To become eligible for services and protection under Section 504, a student must be determined, as a result of an evaluation, to have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Eligibility is determined by the Section 504 Committee of Knowledgeable Persons
