Focused Instructional Lesson

 

            Audience:

                 The intended audience for this lesson is third grade students involved in a Solar System Unit of Study.

 

            Instructional objective (Science TEK 3.11C):

         Students will be able to name and describe the nine planets of the solar system. Students will identify

         the nine planets and their relation to the sun.

 

                 Instructional objective (technology):

         Students will acquire information from the Internet and answer pre-determined questions. Based on the research,

          the student will then create a power point presentation with images to describe their findings.

 

                 Assessment:

                 Students will present their presentation to the class and the class will be asked to write a paragraph

                 describing their favorite planet. The student will also be assessed using a rubric.

 

                 Directions:

                 Click on each bookmark and answer the questions in your journal. At the end of your research, you

                 will use Microsoft PowerPoint to create a presentation that contains images and text. Your presentation will be saved.

Explore the nine planets in this cool website.  Draw and write some interesting facts about each planet in your journal and then illustrate.

For example, it’s position, size, color, and composition.  You can use this information to create your PowerPoint.
