Language Arts: Writing stories; using correct punctuation and capitalization. We are also learning the different parts of speech.
Homework
I believe that homework is important! Doing homework assignments routinely, thoroughly and accurately is one of the best ways to ensure a student’s success in class.
I believe that homework supports the building of independence and self-reliance in our students as they learn to improve life-long study habits.
Types of Homework You Can Expect: 1. Completion—anything not completed during the school day. 2. Practice—review and reinforcement of skills presented in class. 3. Preparation—individual preparation for the next day’s activities. 4. Extension—taking skills learned in the classroom and expanding on them at home. 5. Make-up work—Remember, your child has 1 day for every day missed to make up assignments missed while they were out.
**YOUR CHILD’S AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK PER NIGHT SHOULD BE 30-45 MINUTES. Please note that these are for an “average” student. Some students may need more time, some students actually prefer to spend more time, and some will need less time.
WEEKLY HOMEWORK SCHEDULE Monday– Vocabulary/Spelling/Language packet (due on Thursday). Tuesday– Math TAKS prep Wednesday– Read for AR points Thursday– Math TAKS prep Friday - No homework (unless there are special circumstances such as make up work or an ongoing project). |
