Unclaimed Property
Per Texas Property Code Title 6, Chapters 72-77, local governments, including school districts, are required to report abandoned property greater than $100 to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts after the appropriate abandonment period has passed. Abandoned property amounts of $100 or less must reported and maintained by a designated officer of the school district.
The statute also requires school districts to develop an unclaimed property program for the reporting, delivery, public notification, claims tracking and processing, enforcement, and accounting of this locally reported abandoned property.
For LCM CISD, abandoned property less than $100 is maintained by the LCM CISD Business Office and will be made publicly available on this webpage.
